Speed Networking is the most
exciting development in business networking in recent years. Speed
networking events allow you to meet, face-to-face up to 30 potential
clients, suppliers, investors and partners during the course of one
evening. It is a well known fact that making a commitment to networking
can create untold opportunities and can have an expediential effect on
the long-term profitability of your business.
How do I know the contacts I meet
during the speed networking event will be relevant to my business?
Some of the contacts you meet at a speed
networking event will not be directly relevant to your business however
this can be a positive. Using the theory of six degrees of separation
the chances are that if a contact is not directly relevant to you it is
likely that they will know someone who is and visa versa.
During an event you may meet 25 contacts.
Working in the assumption that each of these contacts already has 50
contacts of their own you potentially are gaining access to 1250
personal recommendations just from attending one event! With a reach
like this, it certainly won't be long before you are in touch with the
people that you want to meet!
Personal recommendation or third party
referral, is, without doubt the most effective marketing tool available.
Speed networking gives you access to a wealth of contacts in a fun,
relaxed and informal environment.
Why should I try speed networking?
The beauty of Speed Networking is in its
efficiency. Because you have a set amount of time in which to meet each
contact you will find that your time is spent meeting the optimum number
of contacts within a short period of time. Many people say that they
meet more new contacts during one event that they would normally meet
throughout the course of a year!
How do I prepare for a speed networking
event?
In order to get the maximum value from
speed networking we recommend that you prepare a short pitch about
yourself, your company and what you are looking to get out of the event.
Our friends across the pond typically refer to this as an "elevator
pitch". Essentially a concise, carefully planned, description about your
company in simply terms that can be delivered in the time it would take
a ride in a lift.
Some attendees may also to summarise this
on paper and present each attendee with a copy as they meet them.
What is the Format of a Speed Networking
Event?
A speed networking event begins with
drinks and a welcome introduction from our hosts. Guests will then be
asked to sit at numbered tables which correspond to a number they have
been allocated. The first networking session will then begin and will
last approximately 5 minutes, after which our host will make a signal
and guests will then travel to the next table in numerical order. This
will continue until everyone has met.
After the speed networking sessions have
finished guests are encouraged stay for a drink and an informal chat to
maximise the networking potential of the event.
How do I get the most from a speed
networking event?
In order to make the most from an event it
is important to remember that networks and referrals can only grow if
all participants are mindful of the new contacts they have made during
the event and remember to pass on their details after the event.
If you are passing on referrals to your
new contacts, they will do the same for you and before long the real
benefits of attending a speed networking event become apparent!
Who Should Attend?
Anybody with an interest in increasing
their networking potential. Some people attend with a view to finding
new customers. Some seek supplier or partners. Others do not have a
specific agenda but know that increasing their contact network can only
ever be a positive move for the future. We do not screen our
clients. You do not have to be a business owner neither are you required
to hold a certain level of management
