London, the big smoke, corporate and banking capital of the UK but also the hub of creative, full of theatre, music and art. A center of excellence in practically any field you care to mention.
Now a few of you might not know these underground hot spots and some might, to be quite honest there are a lot and they pop up all over the place but just as quickly disappear.
It’s hard to stay on top of it all but what a great predicament to be in because it means that our lovely vibrant city is alive right down to its soul.
I’m going to share one such creative club night with you that I had the pleasure of actually getting myself along to after having wanted to for a very long time.
Soul Train at CLF art café or aka the Bussey Building in Peckham and what a night out it is. Split over four flours including a basement bar each playing their own interpretation of what we know and love as soul.
You get everything from Funk, Soul, Groove, Disco, Motown and everything inbetween. Each floor has its own bar so you’re never too far away from a drink and keeps those queues down that try to kill your groove.
Each floor is kitted out with an expansive dance floor and the basement bar even has an area with sofa’s and comfy arm chairs where I found myself taking a little breather from time to time.
Think I’m getting old.
Now the music as you expect is just bang on. I’m a huge fan of that sound so clearly this is my perfect night out. Can’t beat a bit of James Brown now can you?
The DJ’s clearly know their stuff, pretty sure I had my Shazam out growing my music library and improving it. With around 10 DJ’s playing over all floors over the course of the night you will never have nothing to listen to, if something’s not your jam then you can just boost to another floor.
They also have a cracking outdoor area for when you just need a bit of fresh air or a cigarette.
Also, just a good place to have a breather and a chat, cause its pretty loud in there, like good loud.
Soul Train is on usually the first and third Saturday of the month and tickets start from £5 but these tickets sell fast so if you fancy it I would book them when you can.
Saying that, I did pay on the door but it did cost me £13 so again if you can book in advance but you could strike lucky on the door but be a rum and coke out of pocket.
Whatever you end up paying your going to have a quality night out and will be sure to get your moneys worth as doors open at 10pm and if you can make it you’ll be there till 5am.
This night out for venue and music beats any bog standard Tiger Tiger or another soulless club in the centre of London.
