Tucked away in one of Fitzrovia’s more obscure streets is a gem of a basement bar - Nordic. With a nod to the dive bars of old but with a professional polish, Nordic combines an open front tabled area with a few little nooks and crannies for those more intimate discussions. Scandinavian wood is the furniture material of choice which, when combined with friendly and efficient table service no matter how busy it gets, provides a surprisingly comfortable evening of food and drink.
Black & Blue has been part of the Original Dating venue stable for a while now but since its beautiful new refurbishment we thought it warranted an update.

Make the most of the extra long summer of love with our top tips for outdoor dates
What a week and we’re only half way through! Already we’ve got one busy speed dating event under our belt. Last night, we hosted 30 people at Match Bar which is located a minutes’ walk from Oxford Circus tube station. This event was for our ever popular over 30s age category.
Our regular weekly speed dating for people in their thirties has proved to be a very popular night and is now a stalwart of our calendar. Attracting a vibrant, typically professional crowd from across London we consistently find a match rate of between 70-80% amongst those that attend. That means that well over two thirds of everyone attending matches with at least one person as either a yes of a friend.
A few weeks ago we conducted a survey. The goal was to find out what our clients want from a dating event in 2014 and where the dating market in general is heading. We had a great response and around a thousand people kindly took the time to fill it out, so a big thank you to those that did.
If you’re thinking about trying speed dating for this first time why not make this week the one where you take the plunge? We’re running four events and all of them have seen really high booking levels over the past few days. This means only one thing, plenty of dates for you!
It’s time for our annual events survey and we’d love to hear your feedback on some ideas we’ve got in the pipeline. We believe one good turn deserves another so we’re offering a 50% off discount voucher for anyone kind enough to fill out our survey. There’s only 16 questions so it will only take you a few minutes.
For many singles seeking to meet new people for romantic liaisons in 2014 the internet, it’s established, is the obvious place to start. Online dating sites are the newspaper personal columns of our time. Vast directories of willing singles, all in one convenient place. But here, the listings are searchable and filterable by every possible metric imaginable. For the right-thinking single this is the obvious hunting ground, surely.
On Saturday June 7, 2014 we're having a HUGE boat party and it's called Rock The Boat. 250 people will join us aboard the good ship Golden Jubilee for this three hour afternoon party cruise on the River Thames and we'd absolutely love you to be there too.
We hear a lot of success stories from people that met at our speed dating events and parties across London. Here's another example of one that popped into our inbox last week. There's really nothing nicer than knowing our events bring so many people together.
We’ve been running singles events a long time now and we ran our first lock and key party 10 years ago in 2004. Since then we’ve run well in excess of 2000 events but still to this day we feel a surge of excitement when party day comes round. Our most recent party was called the Spring Fling and it took place on Saturday April 12, 2014, this time at the newly refurbished, beautifully boutique Malmaison Hotel on Charterhouse Square in Clerkenwell.
Londoners are a funny old lot and I think a lot of us are quite similar. We think of ourselves as cosmopolitan and we enjoy the finer things. We’re the people in the know, on the cutting edge. Leaders not followers. We enjoy our place in the world’s leading global city and we thrive on all the excitement that affords us.
The Spring Fling - Saturday April 12, 2014 Spring seems to have finally sprung and it's such a great time to meet someone new, just in time for what we hope to be another long hot summer. This weekend the clocks have finally changed and for the first time in 2014 there’s a chance you’ll be able to enjoy an after work drink with the sun on your face. Ah, bliss!
Last time I gave you my Top 5 Winter Dating Venues but let’s be honest, cold is cold. Even the most intrepid of couples will feel the need to warm their proverbial cockles and romance rarely follows frostbite.
