Black & Blue has been part of the Original Dating venue stable for a while now but since its beautiful new refurbishment we thought it warranted an update.
Part steak restaurant, part classy cocktail bar, Black and Blue is located just minutes from Oxford Circus and Goodge Street stations. A strong wine list, great selection of beers and exceptionally knowledgeable cocktail staff ensure you’ll never go thirsty. There’s a classy style upstairs at the main bar or downstairs in the more intimate basement.
And it’s the basement where the real improvements have been made. Gone are the chrome tables and high stools and in their place a series of wall hugging booths in dark leather tones and lots of deep wood furniture filling the centre of the room. Somehow it feels more spacious than before.
A more contemporary feel has been given to the downstairs space where our events take place.
It’s the perfect venue to escape the hustle of Oxford Street without travelling too far off track. It’s never too crowded, even with the odd after work group, and service is reasonably slick. And if you’re hungry they serve up some of the best steaks in town so it’s perfect for an intimate meal for two, a relaxed group gathering, or a primer for a late night elsewhere.
Get in quick before the rush starts from the new apartments just built opposite on the old Middlesex Hospital site. But to be fair, we think this comfortable stalwart of the Fitzrovia scene is more than capable of dealing with whatever is thrown its way.
