2012 was a tough year for most of us. Crazy weather, financial struggles, companies going bust. If you're single it can be even harder. Which is why people seem to be turning to the more important things in life. Other people.

Here at Original Dating, we've taken meeting people to another level and this Valentines week promises to be one of the best yet - a welcome antidote to the trials and tribulations of the year that was.

Forget waiting for that Valentines card from the person across the office who may not even know you exist. Ignore the gleeful cries of snug coupled friends as they regale you with tales of romantic gifts foisted upon them by their other halves and instead let Original Dating take the bull by the horns for you.

This really is a good Valentines to be single. There are increasing numbers of single people in London looking for the perfect way to meet others, and hundreds of them will be coming to our Valentine's parties.

We've taken the normal formula of Valentines parties and speed dating events, shaken them up, asked you what you want, and can now confidently boast that we run the best singles events in London.

Valentines Evening Double Speed Dating & After Party

Whether you've been speed dating in London before or not, our events are renowned as the most relaxed and fun in town. What can be better than that? How about two events at the same time, in the same venue, on St Valentine's Day?

That's right, this Valentines night (Thursday February 14th) sees Original Dating launching the first ever Double Speed Dating event in London. Each will host approximately 40 single professionals across two floors of the wonderful Exhibit bar in Balham. And when the speed dating is done we combine both events for a massive after party on the top floor.

Original Dating Valentines Lock & Key Party

And if that's not enough, Saturday 16th February sees us back in the luxurious surrounds of Adam Street private members club for our Valentines In The Vault Lock & Key party.

Over 250 professional singles in one of London's best private venues dancing the night away to Original Dating's favourite live band and engaging in witty, flirtatious repartee. And to help break the ice the evening begins with our justifiably famous Lock & Key ice breaker. Gents grab two keys, ladies one lock and head out into the crowd to find your match. Once the match is found, come to us, enter our lucky dip prize draw for some amazing prizes, grab another lock and key and off you go again to find your next match. It's that simple. And judging by feedback from previous events, it promises to be one of the best Valentines events in London.

These events will sell out quickly so make sure you book soon and we guarantee you won't be disappointed. We look forward to celebrating Valentines 2013 with you soon.

HOW IT WORKS

The beauty of Speed Dating London lies in its no-nonsense approach. You take an equal number of single girls and guys, put them in a room and give them a few minutes to chat with every other member of the opposite sex.

When you get there

Original speed dating events in London normally begin at 7.30pm. You will need to register with our hosts and to begin with they will issue you with a score sheet. This will help you to keep track of the singles that you would like to meet again and perhaps go on a date with. After a short period of mingling, your host for the evening who will run through detailed instructions and give you your starting position if you are a guy or table for the event if you are a girl.

Meet & Mingle

A London speed dating event is split into two halves, each lasting around an hour, there will be an interval at half time of about 15 minutes for speed dating London. You will have between 4 and 5 minutes with each person, after which you need to tick a box on your score sheet - "yes, I would like to meet this person again" or "no. Thanks but no thanks". Or "friend" if you'd like to get to know them platonically. Make sure that you do this after each date to keep track. Afterwards there is an opportunity for everyone to meet and mingle informally - this is often where the real action begins, so make sure you don't disappear too quickly!

Complete your score sheet

After the event you simply tick who you liked on the Original Dating website and the site works about your matches automatically. If the dates you have ticked as a "yes" have reciprocated you have a match. You will be able to view the first names and message them via our site online without revealing your email address until you are ready to. You'll be having proper first dates in no time.
