Four Easter Weekend Ideas for Singles

Ah Easter. A peculiar time of year. Depending on your belief system, it’s either a time for mourning, a time for celebrating, or simply time off work.

Whatever you’re approach it’s a peculiar time to be single. For many, it’s a time to catch up with family, eat a roast and reflect on reflecting things, like mirrors, and morals.

But London is a city with a majority of its population being from elsewhere. Thus, over any given Easter weekend there are likely to be hundreds of thousands of single folk looking for something to do or somewhere to go.

So what to do?

Use the extra hours to date
Easter is always a long weekend so there’s no excuse for not being prepared. If you’ve been lucky enough to have attended a speed date in London a few days prior then now is the time to consolidate your matches.

Ask someone on a date for Easter Saturday during the day, or even Easter Monday, but again during the day. The sites of London will be relatively quiet, pubs and bars will still be open as they take advantage of the extra drinking hours and you’ll be able to wander to your hearts content while still having an escape route of the evening should things not go according to plan.

Hang Out With Friends
This may sound a little counterintuitive given that my business is dating, but take a break!

Sometimes it’s good to recharge the batteries and catch up with friends. Cook dinner for a bunch of them; even better if some of your friends are holding a barbecue, as seems to be a growing tradition among those not with family.

Okay, so there is an ulterior motive. I’ve yet to go to an Easter barbecue that didn’t include friends of friends. You’re in a relaxed and familiar environment but with some new additions to the friendship group. Perhaps you’ll get to flex those flirting muscles after all.

Roast Dinner
I love cooking but even I sometimes love to indulge in a great British pub roast. And there is no better time of year than Easter. Particularly for lamb.

A friend of mine has a habit of inviting a group of relatively random people for Sunday lunch at a local pub. It started as a note in the local bookshop window and has now become a thrice yearly event. You’d be surprised how many people are in the same boat and just how interesting the afternoon can be.

And just to be on the safe side, make sure you’re in a pub that has a pub quiz in the evening. It provides both a perfect distraction and an opportunity to escape once dinner is finished.

Ping Tron
Okay. This one is a little specific and particularly for this Easter Sunday. But I know it’s going to be huge and a really fun day for the good folk of South West London. I also happen to know that quite a few singles who have been to an event or two of ours in the past will also be there.

Basically, The 3 Monkey’s Bar in Balham is launching Ping Tron, glow in the dark sci-fi themed ping pong, this Easter Sunday from 2pm. The afternoon consists of street food, 2-4-1 cocktails until 9pm, Ping Tron competition running through to 1am and beer pong prizes throughout the day.

I’ll be going and Balham has one of the highest rates of singledom in London. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

So there you go. Four ideas for this Easter weekend. Whatever you do, enjoy the extra holiday, don’t forget to change your clocks, and see y’all soon.
