Who doesn’t love Scrabble? When someone says, name a board game, I guarantee that Scrabble will be one of the first three names, probably second to Monopoly and before Cluedo. It's a game everyone knows how to play, it's quick, it's fun and that's why we thought it would be perfect to play while speed dating. Dating is supposed to be fun, it's also about meeting new people, which can be a little intimidating at times. It's only natural, but adding a simple and fun activity into the mix helps to take the pressure off.
How does Scrabble Dating work?
Well just like at our speed dating events you will get to meet everyone one-on-one except this time there will be a Scrabble board in front of you and just like Scrabble you will pick your letters and spell out words on the board. The aim in Scrabble Dating is to play a rude word if you can. Scrabble is the ice breaker and you won't keep scores so to speak but there will be a prize for each guy and girl who get the highest scoring rude word. If you have the opportunity to spell out something a bit rude or considered a swear word, go for it. Keep a note of where and who you were with when you played it in your notes section. We will do a run down at the end of the event for all the rude words to find out our winners.
Why Scrabble?
Firstly, it's just great fun! Why do you think Countdown has been going for so many years. Secondly, it's a game that can be played in rounds, making it perfect to split up, each round is a date. Also we can spice it up a little and include rude words and swear words since it's not a proper game being played from start to finish. There is the added challenge of moving to a new board each round (for the guys) and getting a new set of letters. You can impress your date with that extensive vocabulary or have them in stitches with that rude word they didn’t see coming.
So that’s Scrabble Dating in a nutshell. It's guaranteed to be one of the funniest dating events around and also the most engaging. You'll be having a laugh while getting to know up to 20 singles, it won't even feel like dating but that's exactly what you will be doing, dating!
