About the event

Welcome to The Mistletoe Mingle Christmas Party 2012. Join up to 150 people from across London for a festive night of flirting and pre-Christmas fun! This event features our Lock & Key Icebreaker so you'll effortlessly meet loads of people. Get a match and be entered into our prize draw for some great prizes and online matching means you can contact anyone you met on the night via our website too. The Malmaison Hotel is housed in a stunning Victorian building overlooking a leafy cobbled square and is the London flagship for this boutique hotel chain. Original Dating have hired the lounge bar for our party. This venue is less than a one minute walk from Barbican Station.

  Lawrence and myself arrived and the party had already began. There was a good mix of males to females there. The raffle idea is a good idea but maybe a few more prizes would have been good. Maybe some ice-breaker activities would have been good also, such as a forced mingling event.

  Good location and well run, only reason it wasn't 5 stars is there could've done with some background music at the start, as going into a silent room with everyone sat down waiting was quite awkward

  It was a good new experience I liked how speed dating works I would say we need longer than 5 minutes more like 6-7 minutes would help to get to know someone and ask more questions about them and what they like enjoy and just have more time to talk as well.I liked the range of people I meet and how friendly and approachable most of them were to me and the host was helpful if I asked for advice about something I wanted help with.

  Great evening out and met some really cool people. Very nice, spacious venue for it and the 4 minute conversations go so quickly it was great to stay on a bit longer and talk to some of the people I met. Would go again!

HOW IT WORKS

Arrive from about 7pm and grab a drink — our host will check you in and hand you a scorecard. Once everyone's settled, the host explains the format and the dating begins: four to five minutes per date, girls seated, guys rotating, with a 15-minute breather at half time to top up your glass and compare notes.

After each date you make a quick private note: yes, no, or friend. Nobody sees your choices on the night — that's the point. When the formal dates finish, the room opens up and everyone mingles; ask any of our hosts and they'll tell you this is where half the real chemistry happens, so don't dash for the Tube.

The next morning, enter your ticks on our site and our matching system compares them against everyone else's. Mutual yeses become matches, and you can message each other through the site — no phone numbers or emails shared until you choose to.


When you get there

Doors open around 30 minutes before the start time on your ticket — arriving early gives you time to grab a drink, find your feet and say hello to your host, who'll check you in and get you set up. Everything you need is provided on the night; just bring your ticket confirmation and your best conversation.
