MATCHING
Our unique matching system
Original Dating developed a sophisticated online matching engine to show you who you matched with at our speed dating events and parties. You can use it on this website or via our mobile app, your choice. The system also incorporates a messaging platform to communicate with your matches until you are ready to exchange your contact details.
What is a match?
A match is what you are aiming for when you go speed dating. It occurs when both parties indicate they would like to see each other again. Matches can either be 'Yes' or 'Friend'. A 'Yes' match occurs when both parties have ticked a 'Yes' to each other. A 'Friend' match occurs either when both parties have ticked 'Friend' or a combination of a 'Yes' and 'Friends'.
How to I enter my preferences?
Preferences are entered on the day following your event. To enter your ticks you'll need to log in to our website or app and select the event under 'My Events'. You will then see a list of the attendees. Simply select your choice for each one.
How quickly can I view my matches?
Matches are published in the members area at 5 pm on the day after your event. If no matches are displayed this doesn't necessarily mean you didn't receive any. Check back later as your full list of matches will only be available when everyone has entered their ticks online.
How many matches can I expect?
Approximately 85% of our clients receive at least one match and many people receive more.
I've just entered my ticks but I don't seem to have any matches
If no matches are displayed this doesn't necessarily mean you didn't receive any. Check back later as your full list of matches will only be available when everyone has entered their ticks online.
Can I get the details of somebody that did not choose me as a match?
No. As frustrating as this may be, you can only find out who you matched with directly.
I've been to one of your events and I'm keen to find out which of my 'friendship' matches actually ticked yes to me.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide this information. Speed dating is designed to be totally rejection-free so to provide this information would detract from this unique feature.
What information is given to my matches?
Only your first name. Our system has a messaging function so you only need to share your contact details when you are ready.
Can I block users?
Yes, if you no longer wish to review communication from someone you may click the block user command found on that user's profile page.
