January, the aftermath month. We've all been running about daft with Christmas shopping, parties, catching up with friends and family and now all we're left with is this sudden lull. January blues can quite easily creep in after all the chaos of the festive season and New Year. But actually it's a great time to focus on yourself again, after all we have to look after numero uno! We can set all these New Year resolutions and go dry in January but we're just lying to ourselves half the time. What we should be doing is, well doing. It's easy enough to plan or say something we want to do, all this New Year-new me bullshit but if we don’t actively try to achieve these goals then they're just words at the end of the day!

One of the most common New Year's resolutions is to 'date more'! So we've got some fantastic dating events to help you keep to your resolutions. Dating Against Humanity is now every fortnight and continues to sell out every event, sometimes weeks in advance! Of course our ever popular speed dating nights will continue as normal with some new venue additions such as The Winchester in Islington, a trendy and charming venue minutes from Angel Station. We also have two brand new events going live next week, which are going to be very popular. I'm personally super excited for these events!

We also have our massive New Year Party this Saturday, 13th January, where we are expecting over 250 attendee's! Our New Year's icebreaker will be our popular Lock & Key ensuring you meet as many new people as possible and of course we will have some fantastic prizes to be won. This is not only a great way to meet new people but a great night out too!

So let's stick to our resolutions this January with actionable goals, having tons of fun in the process, it's easy to commit to fun! It's not that it's a new you, you've been doing just fine, you just need to keep going in the right direction. January is all about you, so do what you want to do and go do it!

Stuart is one of our regular hosts and over the years has become something of an expert in dating. Watch out for his regular posts full of dating tips and advice.

The beauty of Speed Dating London lies in its no-nonsense approach. You take an equal number of single girls and guys, put them in a room and give them a few minutes to chat with every other member of the opposite sex.

When you get there

Original speed dating events in London normally begin at 7.30pm. You will need to register with our hosts and to begin with they will issue you with a score sheet. This will help you to keep track of the singles that you would like to meet again and perhaps go on a date with. After a short period of mingling, your host for the evening who will run through detailed instructions and give you your starting position if you are a guy or table for the event if you are a girl.

Meet & Mingle

A London speed dating event is split into two halves, each lasting around an hour, there will be an interval at half time of about 15 minutes for speed dating London. You will have between 4 and 5 minutes with each person, after which you need to tick a box on your score sheet - "yes, I would like to meet this person again" or "no. Thanks but no thanks". Or "friend" if you'd like to get to know them platonically. Make sure that you do this after each date to keep track. Afterwards there is an opportunity for everyone to meet and mingle informally - this is often where the real action begins, so make sure you don't disappear too quickly!

Complete your score sheet

After the event you simply tick who you liked on the Original Dating website and the site works about your matches automatically.
