Speed Dating Chocolat

When Hotel Chocolat contacted us about the possibility of running a chocolate tasting dating event, we jumped at the chance. Who wouldn't want to host such a unique dating experience.

For decades, chocolate has been synonymous with dating. Everything from Valentines gifts, to just letting someone know you care. We've all either gave or received chocolates from a partner it makes you wonder why we haven't done such an event before.

With no set format to work from, since it was the first of its kind, I was kindly invited to attend their Bean to Bar Chocolate experience to have a taster of what this event could be and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

A few friends and myself turned up to Hotel Chocolat for the event and we were greeted by Dom, our expert Chocolatier. None of us were quite sure what to expect but were filled with the hope there'd be chocolate involved. Dom started with explaining cocoa beans but before he spilled to much information he noted there was a pencil and paper to make notes as there would be a quiz towards the end. All six of us grabbed our pencils instantly, showing our competitive sides.

Now I'm gonna skim over the info as that's for you to find out come Sunday, 25 November – if you've been lucky enough to grab a ticket that is but what I will say is that this tasting event is the best I've been to in London. Why?

Firstly it was fantastically hosted by Dom, who made the whole event informative, interactive and a lot of fun. Never mind all the different chocolate we got to taste. Secondly, the short quiz at the end really rounded up the whole experience perfectly and brought everyone together. We got to put what we'd learned into practice. Taste a chocolate, discuss the flavours and decide on its contents with a nice little prize if you won as well.

Now back to our dating event and what an event this will be. Dom will be your expert chocolatier who will explain what to look for when tasting chocolate and how to determine its quality. With the room split into small groups of around 4-6 you will have the chance to get to know one another before having a short quiz on some chocolate samples using the techniques Dom will have explained.

After discussing in your groups and finding out the answers you'll move onto the next group for more, that's right more chocolate samples! You might even get a special discount in the Hotel Chocolat store upstairs at the end of the event.

I really don't know what else to say apart from there has never been a dating event quite like this before. If you want to be part of this mouthwatering event you can book here.

If you've already managed to grab a ticket then I'll see you Sunday, 25 November for Speed Dating Chocolat

HOW IT WORKS

The beauty of Speed Dating London lies in its no-nonsense approach. You take an equal number of single girls and guys, put them in a room and give them a few minutes to chat with every other member of the opposite sex.

When you get there

Original speed dating events in London normally begin at 7.30pm. You will need to register with our hosts and to begin with they will issue you with a score sheet. This will help you to keep track of the singles that you would like to meet again and perhaps go on a date with. After a short period of mingling, your host for the evening who will run through detailed instructions and give you your starting position if you are a guy or table for the event if you are a girl.

Meet & Mingle

A London speed dating event is split into two halves, each lasting around an hour, there will be an interval at half time of about 15 minutes for speed dating London. You will have between 4 and 5 minutes with each person, after which you need to tick a box on your score sheet - "yes, I would like to meet this person again" or "no. Thanks but no thanks". Or "friend" if you'd like to get to know them platonically. Make sure that you do this after each date to keep track. Afterwards there is an opportunity for everyone to meet and mingle informally - this is often where the real action begins, so make sure you don't disappear too quickly!

Complete your score sheet

After the event you simply tick who you liked on the Original Dating website and the site works about your matches automatically. If the dates you have ticked as a "yes" have reciprocated you have a match.
